Yes, WOOD WORKS !!

Harvest of Hope gardeners once again make use of recycled materials to make these three new raised beds out of donated wood this past week. 

These three beds, built by Phil, Earl & Doug, took about 45 minutes each, and have now filled spaces (once empty) in the garden area.  The beds will be filled with soil next week, then plants of course.

The lumber, used to make the beds, was donated by Archadeck, builders of decks, etc

In the future, more beds will be built in the vacant lot to the right of the current garden (when viewed from road).

Thanks again to Phil, Earl, Doug for their hammer-and-nail-ability, and just good plain, hard work, splinters & sweat!!!!  ... and of course, Archadeck for donating materials!!!

What is all the HYPE about these teens? The YMCA Hype Teen Camp Volunteers at HOH Garden

I'll tell you what all the HYPE is about....

These fine young teens from the local YMCA Hype Teen Camp used their time & energy to help the Harvest of Hope Garden on Friday.  HYPE, Helping Youth Pursue Excellence, is a summer teen camp organized by the Kingsport YMCA; find out more about this great summer teen program at http://www.ymcakpt.org/youth-development/camp/hype-teen-camp/

Everybirdy Welcome!

HEY EVERY "BIRDY" ! 

 We all know how birds help our gardens.  Three bird houses were recently installed in the garden.

From Garden to Good Works !

These cabbages from the Harvest of Hope Garden are going to support local food pantries and...

...to support Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater Kingsport's (IHNGK) mission; one of it's goals is to provide nutritious meals to families in crisis.

S.H.O.U.T. Helps Harvest of Hope Garden

A big "shout" goes out to the S.H.O.U.T. organization (Students Helping Others Understand Tomorrow) as these teens helped weed, cultivate, paint and organize the Harvest of Hope Garden this past Tuesday!  It was very inspiring to see these young leaders put their "green" and painting thumbs to work.
